The Nest in association with The Child and Adult Care Food Program encourages NY State
children to: Increase physical activity, increase low-fat and fat-free dairy foods and increase
the number of vegetables and fruits served.
As such, The Nest mealtime philosophy is:
a- serve home-made foods, with children serving themselves
c- encourage children to try new foods
c- have adults sit with the children and eat the same food they are eating
The Nest also decided to improve the quality of some of the required food components.
For example we give them whole wheat or 12 grain bread, olive oil, and sea salt. We do not
serve frozen or pre-packaged foods, all foods are home- made, including the infant's food.
As a tool for parents we'll show below a list of the most common meals served in our day
